By L. gutierrez
I was originally nervous about ordering the jacket through Amazon after reading an earlier post. I too have had problems getting stuff on time when ordering through Amazon. As a precaution I went directly to the LeatherUp website and ordered through them without a problem. The Jacket is great. I was very impressed at the quality and look of the jacket. The sleeves zip off, which really helps when riding on those really hot and humid August days here in NJ. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of pockets and that the liner zips out. The padding fells pretty good. It's approx 1 inch foam. All in all, the jacket is great and well worth the price. The one thing I did not like was that each of the zippers have a 2 inch removable tab attached to them. Even though they are there to make opening the zipper pockets easier, I found the tabs annoying and took them off.I wish they had more convertible stuff to minimize the amount of gear I need to carry around while riding.

I've owned/used this product for approximately half a year now, I have not yet had it put to the test, but overall I have been pleased with it.some definite areas to note.-Cons-Heat-in traffic, as noted in Dom's comment, this jacket can REALLY bake.-On a warm day in Oahu (probably mid 90's) during a motorcycle safety course (lots of stop/go without much speed to really utilize the ventilation on the jacket) sweat was dripping from the sleeves and all articles of clothing beneath the jacket looked like they just came out of the water (I'm a fairly in-shape guy, and don't sweat particularly more/less than the next person)Ware and Tear-in the first 3 months of use, the mesh housing of the armor pads has begun to go. By 4 months, a hole in the right elbow's mesh has opened wide enough for the armor to slide out without any excessive movement. A couple of stitches have done the trick to put a stop to this, but the mesh seems flimsy, and will probably eventually come loose again, each time leaving less and less room for the elbow pad.-Also signs of shoulder mesh starting to come loose from lining/developing another hole for the pad to slip.-Exterior of the jacket still in good condition though, no signs of Safety hindrance.Design-Velcro collar connector gets caught both on my gloves and my helmet strap, causing both to fray prematurely.-After the 6 months of use, the velcro collar piece has begun to lose it's hold, causing it to flap vigorously at high speeds if not secured low upon the neck, causing not only discomfort, but a terrible distraction while driving.-Using a backpack while wearing this jacket constricts the airflow greatly, causing a VERY noticeable rise in temperature when in slow-speed traffic when you need them most.-Pros-Safety-The exterior of this jacket is sturdy. Ample padding in many vital areas, while still allowing plenty of movement.Cleaning-Really easy, just cold wash and delicate dry, any odors (which believe me... after a couple days use it can get pretty bad) are gone.Functional-I don't remove the sleeves and whatnot personally (It seems kind of silly not to protect your arms seeing how badly they tend to take crashes) BUT, if you did decide to, this thing doesn't look too bad as a vest, and the zippers to remove the arms are not difficult to use-All vent zippers and pocket zippers have tabbed-pulls on them (with the Xelement logo) which have worked very easily even with riding gloves on.-pocket space is ample, and the interior pockets have stayed dry even in moderate rain

By Chanoc
Great looking, about the only way I was getting a six pack ab look, to hot for summer riding but just perfect for winter riding (in So Cal winter), makes you feel well protected. If it only had a little reflective detailing it would be perfect.
